If you’re a night owl, raise your hand! I have always loved staying up past 1 a.m. The world is silent, and no one expects anything of me. I knew I had to change my late habits once I started going to school, working, and having a routine. I needed to create habits to help myself transition into the early bird lifestyle.
Here are 5 morning habits that have started to make me slowly become a morning person:
- Making my bed – I don’t know what it is, but when I make my bed in the morning I do feel like I have my shit together. It also makes it harder to get back into my bed when it’s so pretty!
- Washing my face/skincare: I feel fresh and rejuvenated when I wash my face in the mornings! You don’t need a glamorized skin care routine—just some water, cleanser, and moisturizer will do the trick!
- Reading – Reading is an art form in itself! Reading 10- 15 minutes a day can help your brain immensely, so pick up a quick article, magazine, or comic and get those brain juices flowing to start your day.
- Drinking water – It is a known fact that humans are made of 70% water, so we may as well keep ourselves hydrated. We sleep for 7- 8 hours, so our bodies go without water for a long time, so hydrate yourself!
- Choosing a motivating quote: I got a pack of daily motivational cards for Christmas and love using them every morning! When I wake up, I love to turn the card over, which presents motivational quotes such as, You Rock, and You Will do what queens do. Looking at these quotes every morning helps me remember them while I go out for the rest of my day.
Mornings should not be tough; they should be a time in your day when you can have time for yourself before giving yourself to the rest of the world.
